- Monthly Check-Ins Between Quarterly Planning Sessions: AllSafe IT
- IT Strategy and Security Leadership on One Page: CyberDuo
- Biggest Review Record: GenCare
A vCIO, or virtual chief information officer, is a senior technology leader you rent by the month instead of hiring. Picking the best vCIO services in Los Angeles comes down to one question. Will this person own your IT roadmap and budget, or just show up to a quarterly meeting with a slide deck?
Plenty of firms sell the second thing under the first label.
The math pushes companies toward renting. A computer and information systems manager in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim area earned a mean of $208,290 in base pay in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's before benefits, bonus, or a search fee. And it buys one person, who will spend half their first year learning where everything is.
Meanwhile the decisions keep coming. Server refreshes. A Microsoft 365 renewal. An ERP vendor sunsetting the version you run. Somebody signs off on each one, and at a lot of companies that somebody is a CFO or COO who already has a full-time job. Consilien's page on vCIO services in Los Angeles describes that gap from the provider side.
This ranking covers eight firms headquartered in Los Angeles County, each with a vCIO offer documented on its own website, scored with Clutch and Google data pulled live on October 21, 2026. Consilien publishes the list, serves businesses nationwide from Torrance, and ranks first after one disclosed change to the scoring model.
How These Firms Were Scored
Eight Los Angeles firms, one Confidence Score out of 10, seven factors applied the same way to each. Reviews weigh most. No provider paid for placement or supplied its own numbers, and ratings were pulled live on October 21, 2026.

Clutch and Google don't publish the Confidence Score. It's this publication's own composite.
Consilien publishes this ranking and ranks itself first, so the one change from the standard model needs spelling out. Years in business dropped from 20% to 15%, and the new 5% factor for an industry-specific vCIO program took the difference. A manufacturer's vCIO has to understand an ERP upgrade that can stop a production line, and a general vCIO page doesn't show that. Consilien is the only firm here with a vCIO page written for one industry. Be Structured got partial credit for FINRA and PCI audit-support pages under its vCIO offer. Everyone else scored the floor.
That change decides first place. On the standard six-factor model, Advanced Networks scores 9.83 and Consilien 9.55. It also moves GenCare below Be Structured.
Why take the weight from years in business? The top three firms are all past 20 years, so the factor barely separated them.
Reviews split evenly between Clutch and Google. Clutch verifies its reviewers, which is why it's treated as the primary platform. On each one, star rating counts for 60% and review volume for 40%, on a stepped scale where one to five reviews scores a 5 and anything past 60 scores a 10. Be Structured's Google listing shows no rating, so its review score rests on Clutch alone, with no penalty. Cloudtango, a third directory, blocked access and wasn't scored for anyone.
Awards counted when an outside publisher put the firm on a list, such as the Channel Partners MSP 501 or CRN's annual rankings. The full 2026 MSP 501 sits behind a download form, so several placements below rest on the firms' own announcements and are marked for verification. "Award-winning" with no award named got nothing.
For vCIO depth, one test. Can a buyer read, on the provider's own site, who the vCIO is, what they produce, and how often they show up? Integris, where TechMD's website now redirects, and NexusTek both sell vCIO services but have no Los Angeles office, so neither qualified. Netready's strategic offer is a security officer role, not a vCIO.

The 8 Best vCIO Services in Los Angeles
1. Consilien: Best Overall

Consilien's vCIO owns the decision, not the slide deck, and for a manufacturer that ownership reaches the plant floor.
Score: 9.6/10
Clutch 4.9 (6 reviews) · Google 4.9 (13 reviews) · Torrance · Founded 2001
Think of a contract manufacturer in the South Bay running an aging ERP, two buildings, and an IT manager who's great with tickets but has never built a three-year budget. The ERP vendor just announced end of support. Who decides between upgrading, migrating to the cloud version, or switching platforms, and who explains the cost to the owner?
That's the job Consilien's vCIO takes on. The service runs on four steps. Assess the environment, plan a prioritized roadmap tied to budget and operating timelines, guide the work alongside internal staff and vendors, then govern with regular executive reporting. Its manufacturing vCIO program goes further, covering ERP and MES oversight (MES is the software that runs the production floor), decisions where office IT and plant equipment overlap, and companies running several plants on shared systems. Nobody else on this list publishes anything like it.
Key Strengths
- No. 306 on the 2026 Channel Partners MSP 501, its second year on the list, according to Consilien's announcement, and No. 123 on CRN's 2026 Fast Growth 150.
- The vCIO works next to a vCISO, a part-time security chief, from the same firm, so budget and risk get decided in the same room.
- Its vCIO page says plainly when the service is the wrong call, including small, informal organizations and leadership that won't commit to planning.
- 25 years in business.
The tradeoff. Consilien doesn't sell its vCIO as standalone consulting. The service is built to sit on top of its managed IT and security work, so a company that's happy with its current support provider and only wants an independent strategist won't find that here. The page also doesn't publish a price or a meeting schedule, so put both in the contract. Six Clutch reviews is a short record next to GenCare's 75.
Best For: Manufacturers, distributors, and professional services firms that want one partner owning strategy, support, and security.
Not Ideal For: A company that wants a vCIO with no tie to the firm running its systems.
Services: vCIO, managed IT, co-managed IT, vCISO, managed cybersecurity, SOC (a security team watching for attacks around the clock), cloud. Compliance readiness for CMMC, NIST, and SOC 2 is a separate engagement.
Industries: Manufacturing, electronics and semiconductor, aerospace, distribution, professional services, financial services.
Why It Ranks #1: Consilien gives businesses a strategic IT owner who also answers to the security program, and for manufacturers it's the only firm on this list with a vCIO offer written around ERP, MES, and multi-plant operations. The standard model has it a quarter point behind Advanced Networks. Counted for industry-specific vCIO work, it leads.
2. Advanced Networks: Most Fully Documented vCIO Offer

If a buyer wants to read exactly what a vCIO delivers before the first call, Advanced Networks has the most complete answer in town.
Score: 9.5/10
Clutch 5.0 (44 reviews) · Google 5.0 (87 reviews) · Westwood, with offices in Orange County and San Francisco · Founded 2004
Its consulting page spells it out. A named vCIO owns a 12-36 month roadmap that gets reviewed every quarter, plus an IT budget looking three years out, with the capital and operating costs justified. Quarterly reviews happen on-site, four a year, with metrics. It negotiates vendor contracts and runs technology due diligence for acquisitions. And it's the only firm here that says in writing it will sell vCIO work on its own, as a fixed monthly retainer, with roadmap and budget projects quoted at a fixed fee.
Key Strengths
- 131 reviews across Clutch and Google, with a 5.0 average on both.
- Los Angeles pages for accounting, construction, law, financial services, and manufacturing clients, plus a long case study library.
- Named to the MSP 501 three years running, according to its Clutch profile [VERIFY: Advanced Networks 2024-2026 MSP 501 on the publisher's list].
No dollar figure appears anywhere. Its page compares the cost to a "$250K+" full-time CIO but stops there.
Best For: Leadership teams that want a fixed quarterly agenda and a written three-year budget.
Not Ideal For: Buyers who need a price before they'll take a meeting.
Why It Ranks #2: On the standard six factors it's the top score on this list. It drops a tenth because its vCIO offer isn't built for one industry.
3. AllSafe IT: Monthly Contact, Quarterly Planning

Quarterly planning with monthly check-ins between. Simple promise, and rarer than it should be.
Score: 8.9/10
Clutch 4.9 (19 reviews) · Google 4.8 (63 reviews) · Pasadena · Founded 2005
AllSafe IT works out of South Lake Avenue in Pasadena under founder and CEO Bones Ijeoma. Its vCIO page covers multi-year roadmaps, vendor management, business continuity planning, and mentoring internal IT staff, which matters if the goal is eventually growing your own IT lead. The company says it's been named to the CRN MSP 500 seven times, most recently in 2026 [VERIFY: AllSafe IT CRN MSP 500 years on crn.com].
Key Strengths
- The only firm here that puts monthly check-ins on top of quarterly planning in writing.
- Industry pages for manufacturing, construction, media, nonprofits, hospitality, and retail.
- 82 reviews, with a 4.8 Google rating, the lowest on the list and still strong.
No case studies turned up on its site. Its vCIO page also quotes outcome figures, like a 30% IT cost reduction in year one, without saying how they were measured, so treat those as marketing.
Best For: Teams that don't want three months of silence between strategy meetings.
Not Ideal For: Buyers who want to read how a past engagement actually went.
Why It Ranks #3: Solid on every factor and long-standing in Pasadena. Thinner industry proof kept it a step behind the top two.
4. CyberDuo: Strategy and Security in One Scope

Score: 8.4/10
Clutch 5.0 (39 reviews) · Google 5.0 (23 reviews) · Glendale, with offices in Orange County, San Diego, and New York · Founded [VERIFY: CyberDuo founding year]
CyberDuo scopes vCIO and vCISO work on the same page. The vCIO handles planning, budgets, vendors, and business alignment, the vCISO handles security strategy and risk, and both can work alongside an existing internal IT team rather than replacing it. Reviews happen monthly or quarterly depending on the client.
Cloudtango named it to MSP Select USA 2026, and its website says it holds a SOC 2 Type II attestation, an outside audit of its own security controls. Its case studies include a construction firm's Azure build, an entertainment company's move to SharePoint, and compliance work for a manufacturer serving military and aerospace customers.
What drags the score is the founding year. Clutch says 2008, a directory says 2010, and the California Secretary of State shows a 2016 formation. The model used the latest.
Best For: Companies with an IT manager who needs a strategic and security lead above them.
Not Ideal For: Buyers who weight a long, documented history.
Why It Ranks #4: 39 Clutch reviews at a perfect 5.0 and a well-scoped offer, held back by a fuzzy founding date.
5. Be Structured: Price Range on the Page

Score: 8.3/10
Clutch 4.9 (5 reviews) · Google listing, no rating shown [VERIFY: live rating unavailable for Be Structured Technology Group on Google] · Downtown LA · Founded 2007
Be Structured's vCIO page says the work is done by "a chief officer, not a junior account manager," and tells buyers to ask any provider for the name of the person who'll hold the role. Good advice, wherever you end up. Quarterly business reviews are the minimum, always with the same person.
It also publishes a number. Managed IT runs $125 to $300 per user per month, and the vCIO sits inside the higher tiers rather than billing as a separate retainer. Founder and CTO Chad Lauterbach is a CMMC Registered Practitioner Advanced, and the firm says it climbed the MSP 501 from No. 443 in 2023 to No. 282 in 2026 [VERIFY: Be Structured 2026 MSP 501 rank on the publisher's list].
The weak spots? Five Clutch reviews, no Google rating, and no case studies.
Best For: Buyers who want a price range before the first meeting.
Not Ideal For: Companies that want vCIO work without switching their support provider.
Why It Ranks #5: The clearest pricing and some of the sharpest vCIO language on the list, sitting on the thinnest review trail.
6. GenCare: Fractional CIO by the Project

Score: 8.1/10
Clutch 4.9 (75 reviews) · Google 5.0 (161 reviews) · Glendale · Founded 1986
236 reviews. Nobody else is close. GenCare has run out of Ocean View Boulevard for 40 years, and its clients have been writing about it the whole time.
A small aside. Consilien's managed IT ranking for Los Angeles earlier this month found no vCIO role at GenCare. A fractional CIO page for Glendale does exist, and it's what put GenCare on this list. It's also flexible about scope. A client can use the service part-time, for a single project, or as needed, with strategy reviews over video.
Gaps, though. No outside awards turned up, the page sets no meeting schedule, and industry coverage is two pages deep.
Best For: Companies that need IT leadership for one big project, like an office move or a system replacement.
Not Ideal For: Buyers who want a standing quarterly program with written deliverables.
Why It Ranks #6: The best review record on this list, with a vCIO offer that's still more promise than process.
7. ClearFuze: vCIO Inside the Plan

Score: 7.6/10
Clutch 5.0 (2 reviews) · Google 5.0 (52 reviews) · Brentwood · Founded 2002
ClearFuze lists vCIO strategic planning and executive-level consulting as a feature of ClearONE, its top managed IT plan, quoted per user. There's no separate vCIO page, so what the vCIO actually produces, and how often, is a question for the sales call.
Its industry pages are worth a look, though. Aerospace and defense, architecture, engineering, entertainment, investment firms. It does digital forensics work too.
Best For: Entertainment, architecture, and aerospace firms that want strategy folded into one managed contract.
Not Ideal For: Anyone shopping for vCIO services on their own.
Why It Ranks #7: Real industry depth and 24 years in business. The vCIO offer exists on paper, barely.
8. STG Infotech: Westside Review Strength

Score: 6.8/10
Clutch 5.0 (6 reviews) · Google 5.0 (108 reviews) · West Hollywood · Founded 2009
108 Google reviews, averaging 5.0, for a small West Hollywood shop on Santa Monica Boulevard. STG focuses on architecture and construction firms, entertainment companies, and financial services. Its virtual CIO page says strategic guidance "can be part of" its managed IT approach, with cadence and scope defined per plan.
That phrasing is the problem. Nothing on the page commits to a roadmap, a budget, or a meeting rhythm, and no outside awards turned up.
Best For: Westside media and finance firms that care most about responsive day-to-day support.
Not Ideal For: Buyers who need a vCIO with defined deliverables from day one.
Why It Ranks #8: Excellent client feedback. The vCIO piece needs more definition before it can compete with the firms above it.

How to Pick a vCIO in Los Angeles
Ask who the vCIO is by name, how many clients they carry, what they'll deliver in the first 90 days, and whether they can recommend against their own firm's products. The answers sort serious offers from rebranded account management in one meeting.
IT support and IT strategy aren't the same job. Support keeps the email running. A vCIO decides whether you should still be paying for that email platform in 2028, and what it costs to move. When a provider's vCIO is really the account manager with a new title, the roadmap tends to look a lot like the provider's price list.
Start with the name. Be Structured's advice holds for every firm on this list. Get the person, then ask how many other clients that person serves. A vCIO with 40 accounts isn't going to know your ERP.
Then ask for a sample. A real vCIO should be able to show a redacted roadmap and a budget forecast from another client, something with dates and dollar figures on it. Consilien's guide on what an IT roadmap should contain gives a reasonable yardstick to hold that sample against.
Money's moving fast this year. Gartner's July forecast puts worldwide IT spending at $6.37 trillion in 2026, up 14.2%, with data center systems spending up 62.5% as AI projects soak up hardware. Server and memory prices follow that demand. A budget built last spring is probably already wrong, and a vCIO should be revisiting it quarterly, not annually.
On meetings, four a year is the minimum worth accepting, on the calendar before the contract is signed. Advanced Networks and Be Structured put quarterly reviews in writing, and AllSafe layers a monthly call on top. Watch for the word "regularly" on a vCIO page. It can mean anything from every 90 days to whenever somebody remembers.
One more fork, and it's bigger than it looks. Should your vCIO work for the same company that runs your servers? Get it from your support provider and the vCIO already knows where every switch and license lives, and has a team to push the plan through by Friday. Hire one separately and nobody has a reason to nudge you toward a firewall their own company resells. Both are legitimate. Advanced Networks will sell the role on its own and GenCare will do it by the project, while Consilien, Be Structured, ClearFuze, and STG attach it to managed services. Some companies don't need an ongoing vCIO at all, just a single written plan, and for them technology roadmap consulting is the lighter lift.
Where That Leaves the Shortlist
For a manufacturer, or any business that wants the person planning IT sitting in the same meetings as the people securing it, Consilien comes out on top, and it's the only firm here with a vCIO offer written for one industry.
Want an independent vCIO with a fixed quarterly agenda instead? Advanced Networks, without much debate. A monthly call between planning sessions points to AllSafe IT in Pasadena. And a company staring down one big project, say a 2027 office move, might get more from GenCare's by-the-project model than from any standing program.
